TOLES® (Test of Legal English Skills) is today the only internationally recognised specialist Legal English certification designed exclusively for legal professionals. The certificate was developed in the United Kingdom to provide employers, law firms, international organisations and in-house legal departments with reliable evidence of practical Legal English proficiency.

TOLES is highly regarded among lawyers, judges, judicial assistants, prosecutors and state attorneys, in-house counsel / legal advisors, legal consultants, law students and legal translators seeking to develop an international career or work with foreign clients and institutions. Unlike general English language certificates, TOLES assesses the practical skills required in everyday legal practice, including understanding contracts, legal correspondence, international transactions and specialised legal terminology.

Moje znanje – Business & Legal English Centre is a proud licensed TOLES preparation centre. Over fifteen years of operation, all of our candidates have successfully passed the examination at the level for which they prepared, giving us a 100% pass rate. Our trainers each have a minimum of twenty years of experience in Legal English and actively cooperate with judicial institutions, law firms, international organisations and businesses.

Courses are delivered either individually or in small groups and are tailored to the relevant examination level (Foundation, Higher or Advanced). The objective is not merely to pass the examination successfully, but to develop the confidence and professional competence required to work effectively in an international legal environment.

Classes are conducted online via Zoom in groups of a minimum of four and a maximum of ten participants.

All preparation materials are included in the course fee, together with an additional complimentary mock TOLES examination organised by Moje znanje.

The course fee is €450 per participant, payable in five monthly instalments or in a single payment within fifteen days of the course commencement date, in which case a 5% discount applies. For corporate clients subject to VAT, VAT will be added to the stated price.

Members of the Croatian Trainee Lawyers Association, the Croatian Association of Conference Interpreters and the Croatian Association of Court Interpreters and Translators are entitled to an additional 10% discount. In addition, the Croatian Trainee Lawyers Association subsidises its members by a further €53.09.

The Centre also recommends a number of additional textbooks for TOLES preparation, a list of which can be found HERE. 

A 15% discount is available on all textbooks and examination materials purchased through Moje znanje from the supplier listed on the website. Shipping costs are charged separately and calculated on the date of purchase.

Candidates may register directly through the official TOLES website HERE. However, candidates registering through Moje znanje as an authorised TOLES centre are eligible for significant discounts on examination fees.

Attendance of the preparation course does not require candidates to sit for the TOLES examination, nor is attendance of a preparation course required in order to register for the examination. However, we strongly encourage candidates to take the examination and obtain the only internationally recognised specialist certification in Legal English.

EXAMINATION DATES

Like the courses themselves, TOLES examinations are conducted online and are administered directly by the central TOLES examination office in the United Kingdom. Examination dates are fixed and cannot be altered.

Each TOLES preparation course consists of 45 teaching hours (one teaching hour = 45 minutes). Classes are held exclusively online, usually on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., over a total of 15 sessions conducted across 15 weeks.

Following receipt of an application, Moje znanje will contact applicants to arrange a complimentary English language placement test, conducted electronically. This initial assessment is necessary in order to place candidates in the most appropriate group.

The placement test is not required for translators, interpreters or qualified teachers of English, who are automatically assigned to the TOLES Advanced preparation course.
